Kawagoe

Kurazukuri Street / The Warehouse District Koedo (Little Edo) /Main Street Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan Kawagoe's Warehouse District (蔵造りの町並み, Kurazukuri no Machinami) offers nostalgic sights of the Edo Period. Kawagoe is a major hub, trade routes in this area used to move many goods to Tokyo. Early merchants built thick-walled warehouses of several layers of stone and clay to store goods and protect them from fire and intruders. Many merchants became wealthy enough to build not only their warehouses but also stores in the Kurazukuri style. (蔵造り式 )[1][2]
