Athelhampton: Orthodox church of St. Edward the Martyr This church was originally the parish church of St. John, Athelhampton, and was built in 1861. In 1996 a former Anglican priest and his wife came across the church and were interested in finding a home for an Orthodox group that he led. And so it was that this church is now the church of St. Edward the Martyr, and is the only Orthodox church in rural Dorset.
