In a circular enclosure in low-lying meadows near the River Frome in Dorset, the ruins of St Mary's Church, East Stoke. The church is thought to be 13th century, with a 15th century porch. The old church was demolished in 1828, the rector arguing that it was in a poor state of repair, too small for the congregation, and difficult to reach when the water meadows flooded. A larger church was built nearby on higher ground.
