St Hilary

Cottages near St Hilary Church. These cottages (and the nearby church) lay at the end of a cul-de-sac road, quite out of the way of most of the settlement in the parish. This situation probably came about as a result of extensive mining in the area in the 19th century and the building of mineworkers houses away from the original village. The cottages here look like they may have been derelict or used for storage. Some have now been refurbished and sold.
