St James church, Bawsey. Bawsey was once a thriving village. Now all that remains is the ruins of St James. The unscrupulous landowner cleared the inhabitants and their properties to create more pasture for his sheep in the 16th century. The church was in use as late as the 1770s for baptisms etc but by 1830 had become derelict.
