The Russian Orthodox church of Holy Empress Alexandra the Martyr in Turku (Abo), Finland. Its design is a Dome rotunda in the doric order, based on the Roman Pantheon. Architect German-born Carl Ludvig Engel. Constructed between 1839-1845. Dedicated to the wife of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, Alexandra, who suffered martyrdom in 303 AD. At the time of taking the picture, it was under renovation.
